Hormones in the body affect every step necessary in achieving pregnancy from stimulating the development of an egg to ovulation and implantation of a fertilized egg in the uterus. If the hormones that affect fertility are not produced in specific amounts at specific times then chances of conceiving a child will be greatly inhibited. Hormonal Evaluation (studies) measures the levels of certain hormones produced by the body during each menstrual cycle.
In Women –Studies are done for FSH/ LH/ Estradiol/ Progesterone/ Antimullerian Hormone. The TSH/Prolactin hormone tests can help a lot to decide the treatment and also if ICSI is needed with dose of hormones required.
In Men –Evaluation is done for FSH/ Testosterone/ Inhibin levels to find out any abnormalities before starting the treatment cycle.
