In IVM process, eggs are removed from the ovaries and are collected before they are fully developed and then allowed to finish their growth process under laboratory conditions. These “in vitro” matured eggs can then be fertilized and used to achieve pregnancy in the same way as in IVF.
This procedure is done in cases when for any other reasons the lady has to undergo Radiotherapy or Chemotherapy (both of which are known to reduce the number of follicles) or in patients who are planning for removal of ovary for any other reasons, Immature follicles can be aspirated from ovaries, they can be made to mature and used in future for ICSI. Success rate is different from that of ICSI/IVF
