The B.Sc. Nursing programme completed one decennial year in the milestones of Westfort College of Nursing. The course is approved by Indian Nursing Council, Kerala Nurses and Midwives’ Council. It is affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences since 2010 admissions onwards. This institution follows the regulations of the affiliating University in determining the eligibility of candidates to undergo the course and conduct of curriculum, examination and award of Degree.
Health is a state of well-being that enables a person to lead a physically, psychologically, socially and economically productive life. It is the right of all individuals and responsibility of individuals, families and communities towards maintaining their health. Nursing is a unique and vital Profession which contributes much in Health care system in the country and abroad. It is based on values of caring, dignity and respect for rights of individuals and groups. Practice of Nursing is based on the application of basic concepts and principles and best evidences derived from physical, biological and behavioral sciences, medicine and Nursing. Scope of nursing practice is wide and it encompasses preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative services to people across their life span in varied health care settings. We believe that undergraduate Nursing programme is a broad professional educational program which is offered to students through a well-defined curriculum which will enable students to assume different roles such as caregiver, manager, leader, communicator, researcher etc. We the faculty of College of Nursing believe that the faculty has a definite role and responsibility in providing conducive learning environment to students to bring excellence in their Professional Education and effect an excellent teaching – learning process across the professional span of life of undergraduate students. We also assume the responsibility to prepare the undergraduate students in such a way to further their education and develop a positive attitude and enthusiasm to fruitfully contribute to the Profession.
Prepare graduate nurses to function in different settings including Hospitals, Community nursing services and available & emerging health care settings at various levels such as professional competent bedside nurses and midwives, nurse supervisor, nurse educators and nurse manager to provide promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative services.
